This site is designed to give an insight into the workings of the
Coastguard service in and around the Tenby area, mainly of the Tenby
BURT (Back Up Response Team), but also Manorbier and Caldey IRTs
(Immediate Response Team). The seaside town of Tenby has a long
association with the Coastguard, from the old seaside cottages on
Caldey Island and around the town, right up to the present day.

Our Brigade covers some 4,500 square miles and makes-up almost two
thirds of the landmass of the Principality of Wales. A wide variety
of risks are found within the area ranging from petro-chemical
industries to the risks associated with heavily populated
conurbations. There is an extensive farming community and many other
light industries throughout the area. These, together with an
extensive coastline and inland waterways are some of the specialised
risks within the Mid and West Wales region.
